Invasin is expressed in pathogenic Y.enterocolitica strains and Y.pseudotuberculosis, but the Y.pestis inv gene is inactivated by an insertion sequence. The inv gene is located in the middle of a gene cluster encoding the flagella proteins. ~100 kDa, anchored by its amino-terminal region.
